Terrain Park Policy
Terrain Park Policy
Westcastle Ski and Snowboard Club
Effective September 30, 2004
Background
The Club's liability insurance coverage extends to claims relating to terrain park injuries only where a Club athlete is in a terrain park for alpine training purposes under the supervision of a coach certified for terrain park training. If a club athlete is injured in a terrain park during Program Hours (defined below) in any other circumstance while participating in a Club program, the directors and the executive of the Club could be personal liable. The directors and the executive of the Club are not prepared to accept such a risk.
As a result, it follows that the Club cannot allow its athletes to be in terrain parks as part of the Club's programs, except for alpine training purposes under the supervision of a coach certified for terrain park training.
The club has no jurisdiction over the activities of its athletes outside of Club program time, so if Club athletes enter terrain parks on their own time, the Club has neither liability nor responsibility for athletes' activities in terrain parks.
Policy Effective immediately, and until further notice, the following policy applies to all Club athletes.
1. Club athletes shall not enter any Terrain Park during Program Hours except under the supervision of a Qualified Coach.
2. "Terrain Parks" are areas designated by ski areas as terrain parks (and are typically roped off or otherwise have limited access) and such other areas as the Club designates from time to time.

5. A parent can withdraw an athlete at any time from program activities, having first notified the supervising coach. An athlete, once withdrawn by his or her parent, cannot rejoin the program during that day.
6. Club coaches are directed to enforce this policy and notify the Club's executive of any breach of this policy of which they become aware.
Enforccement and Penalties Due to the risk of personal liability to the Club's volunteer directors and executive members, this policy will be strongly enforced.
